Today, Square Enix and DONTNOD Entertainment released episode one of Life is Strange as well as the official launch trailer. The first episode is called Chrysalis and it serves as an introduction to the five-part series.

Players will get their chance to meet characters Max and Chloe and select choices which will have a lasting effect on the game. The fallout of some of these decisions will show up in episode one while others won’t have consequences till later episodes. The developers are promising players will have a unique experience tailored to their choices but one should also expect the unexpected as they have surprises in store. Lastly, the first episode serves the purpose of introducing gamers to the in-game mechanics. Life is Strange is a game where the story is going to be the main focus but in order to advance through each episode there will be puzzles to solve. Players will need to learn how to ” combine different types of interactions and rewinds.”

Life is Strange is out today on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, and PS3. A free trial mode is available for all console versions so players can try before they buy. For those interested in purchasing the Chrysalis episode, it is $4.99 or you can buy all 5 episodes for $19.99
